Santa Ana event hassles CL 4-23-07
I attended the George Lopez performance tonight (4/21/07) at the Santa Ana Star center. What a mess. The parking was unorganized and dangerous. We arrived atleast an hour ahead of time and the traffic jams were ridiculous. It took almost an hour and a half to find parking. It took us close to 45 minutes from the time we parked to get to our seats inside. The actual seating was uncomfortable and difficult to negotiate. No assistance was available from usher types.

After the performance it was even worse. If there had been an emergency within the venue, someone would have suffered. I did not feel safe, nor did anyone around me. There was one exit. For over 8,000 people this was very dangerous. I will not be going to anymore events out at the center anymore.

What a disappointing venue and support assistance. Shame, shame on you. I will be very honest with anyone who asks me about the venue.

Please see if other people had this experience as well. I bet you will find they did.

I was at the same show and I completely agree with your frustration.

We didn't have problems getting into the event, but leaving was horrible.

We sat in the car for an hour and a half before we moved AT ALL. Not before we left, not before people let us in, it was before we could move anywhere.

Like you said the sense of security waiting to exit was not there.

People had been drinking and towards the end of the hour and a half got very restless. There was lots of honking, yelling, and standing on cars.

Super crazy...and because of this I will not return either.

I would imagine that any city that builds a new venue like the events center would have a period experiencing growing pains. I think RR will need to address these issues, but I wouldn't miss out on entertainment forever because of these initial problems. I know what it's like to be frustrated about traffic problems, but this will pass, and then you can return to enjoy the shows.

My unsolicited $.02 worth...

I too was terribly disappointed with my visit to the Santa Ana event center. I went to see Willie Nelson in concert, drove in from Albuquerque only to be held up in a very long line to get into the event center parking lot.

Once in, we too had to create our own parking space, some people were blocked in because a car parked in front of their car and another car parked behind their car (triple parked). Once inside, I was again disappointed that there were no screens in other parts of the arena displaying the concert as well.

I've been to many concerts and have been in many venues, this one is like going to a concert in 1989 at Tingley Coliseum. I wouldn't go back to that venue for a concert, no matter who it was unless there were a lot of upgrades.
